Changes to Thieving

Since my last guide, there have been several notable updates to the skill:

• May 2024 Update:

   • Pickpocketing fail rate was reduced for several NPCs.

   • XP rates for stall thieving were increased.

• Varlamore Expansion:

   • Introduced new citizen pickpocketing opportunities.

   • House robbing was added, bringing a more AFK-friendly training method.

• Rogues' Chests Buff:

   • Located in the deep Wilderness, these now offer the fastest Thieving XP rates in the game if done without interruption.

Why Train Thieving?

Thieving is crucial for several reasons:

• Unlocking Ancient Magicks: Requires level 53 Thieving to complete Desert Treasure I.

• Quest Progression: Many quests need high Thieving levels.

• Money-Making: Some of the best skilling moneymakers involve pickpocketing.

• Access to Rogues' Outfit: Doubles pickpocketing loot, making money-making even more efficient.

Useful Unlocks

Before diving into Thieving training, consider obtaining the following upgrades:

• Ardougne Achievement Diary:

   • Medium Diary: +10% success rate for pickpocketing in Ardougne.

• Gloves of Silence:

   • Requires 54 Hunter.

   • Provides a 5% success rate boost (does not stack with Ardougne Diary bonus).

• Dodgy Necklaces:

   • 25% chance to prevent being stunned when failing a pickpocket.

   • Holds 10 charges per necklace.

• Shadow Veil Spell:

   • Requires 47 Magic and A Kingdom Divided quest.

   • Adds an additional 15% chance to avoid being stunned while pickpocketing.

• Rogues' Outfit:

Fastest XP Pathway (~50 Hours to 99)

1. 1-5: Pickpocket Men/Women or do quests.

2. 5-25: Steal from Tea/Bakery stalls.

3. 25-43: Steal from Hosidius Fruit Stalls.

4. 45-84: Blackjack Bandits in Pollnivneach.

5. 84-99: Rogues' Castle Chests in the Wilderness.

Recommended XP Pathway (~70 Hours to 99)

1. 1-25: Tea/Bakery stalls.

2. 25-43: Hosidius Fruit Stalls.

3. 43-91: Ardougne Knights.

4. 91-99: Pyramid Plunder or continue with Ardougne Knights.

Profitable Pathway (~230M GP to 99)

• 82-99: Pickpocket Vyres (~230M profit at current rates).

AFK Pathway (~130 Hours to 99)

• House Robbing in Varlamore: Provides AFK-friendly XP, though significantly slower than other methods.

Low-Level Training Methods (1-25)

Pickpocketing (Level 1-5)

• XP Rate: ~5k XP/hr.

• Location: Lumbridge Castle.

• Alternative: Questing (e.g., The Feud for instant 43 Thieving).

Tea & Bakery Stalls (Level 5-25)

• XP Rate: ~16k XP/hr.

Ardougne Knights (Level 43-91+)

• XP Rate: ~250k XP/hr at 91+.

• Location: Ardougne Market (trap a knight inside a building).

• Requirements:

   • Ardougne Hard Diary for maximum success rate.

   • Dodgy Necklaces for reduced fails.

   • Shadow Veil for extra success chance.

Pyramid Plunder (Level 91-99)
