Best AFK Method Sarachnis Quick Guide
May-26-2025 PSTToday, we're diving into a refreshed guide for tackling the mid-level boss Sarachnis, with a particular focus on a very AFK-friendly method. If you've tackled Sarachnis in the past or seen my previous guides, this one is an updated walkthrough designed to reflect some recent quality-of-life improvements, most notably the introduction of Arceuus boots (formerly known as Arceuus spellcasting boots), which were added in a game update about a year ago. These boots have dramatically improved how we approach the fight, making it more AFK and beginner-friendly than ever.
Let's break down everything you need to know to efficiently, safely, and semi-AFK farm Sarachnis in Old School RuneScape in 2025.
What is Sarachnis?
Sarachnis is a mid-level boss found beneath the Forthos Dungeon. While the boss is fairly accessible to a wide range of combat levels, its drops — particularly the Sarachnis cudgel, Giant egg sac, and chance at a pet — make it an attractive target for Ironmen, mid-game accounts, and players who enjoy relaxed PvM.
Before the release of the Arceuus boots, Sarachnis could be quite annoying due to her web-snare attack that immobilized you and forced a more active playstyle. With the boots now nullifying that mechanic, you can easily camp the boss with auto-retaliate on and minimal clicking.
Getting to Sarachnis
Sarachnis resides in the Forthos Dungeon, located in Hosidius, within the Kingdom of Great Kourend. There are multiple teleport methods to get there:
· Xeric's Talisman to Xeric's Glade (closest and fastest option).
· Kourend Castle teleport via the spellbook or portal nexus.
· Watson teleport scrolls (drop you near the dungeon).
· Book of the Dead / Kharedst's Memoirs with the “Lunch by the Lancallium” teleport.
· Hosidius House portal if you've directed your player-owned house there.
Once you're in the dungeon, you'll need a slashing weapon to cut through webs. This is mandatory, so don't forget it or you won't reach the boss.
Recommended Stats
To comfortably fight Sarachnis using this AFK method, aim for:
· 70+ Strength
· 70+ Attack
· 70+ Defence
· 43+ Prayer (for Protection from Melee)
· 70+ Hitpoints
· 60+ Magic (for some teleport options)
· 75+ Combat Level recommended, though lower levels can manage it with careful setup.
Gear Setup (Crush-Focused)
Here's a breakdown of an optimal, but realistic setup using mostly mid-level gear. The goal is max crush bonus while also maintaining range defense and prayer sustain:
Weapon:
· Zombie axe (budget but effective, crush weapon)
· Alternatives: Sarachnis cudgel, Abyssal bludgeon, Crystal halberd, Saradomin sword, or Verac's flail
Helmet:
· Neitiznot faceguard or Dwarven helmet (for crush bonus)
Body:
· Karil's leathertop (for tanking mage attacks)
Legs:
· Bandos tassets, Obsidian legs, Barrows legs, or Karil's leatherskirt
Cape:
· OSRS Fire cape, Infernal cape, or Ardougne cloak
Shield:
· Dragon defender or Crystal shield (extra melee strength)
Boots:
· Arceuus boots — THE MOST IMPORTANT ITEM. These boots block the web entangle attack from Sarachnis, letting you AFK through the fight. Do not fight Sarachnis without them if your goal is to AFK.
Gloves:
· Barrows gloves or Rune gloves (RFD rewards)
Amulet:
· Amulet of torture, Amulet of fury, or Glory (in that order of strength)
Ring:
· Berserker ring (i) or Warrior ring (i)
Spec weapon (Optional but useful):
· Elder Maul (huge crush DPS)
· Dragon Warhammer or Bandos Godsword for defense reduction
Inventory Setup
Your inventory should be simple and efficient:
· Super combat potion
· 4-5 Super restores (for prayer regen)
· 10+ high healing food (Sharks or better)
· Teleport out method (like Xeric's talisman or Ectophial)
· Slash weapon (if not already equipped)
· Thralls (optional) — Summon one if you're using the Arceuus spellbook
· Spec weapon (if used)
Thralls can increase DPS, but they do require a bit of extra clicking. If you want a fully hands-off AFK experience, you can skip them. The kill times may be a bit slower, but still manageable.
How to Start the Fight
When approaching the boss room:
1. Turn on Protect from Ranged — Sarachnis uses ranged when you're at a distance.
2. Walk into the room, take a hit, then switch to Protect from Melee once you're under her.
3. Activate Piety (or best offensive prayer).
4. Turn on Auto-retaliate.
5. Let the fight begin.
If using a spec weapon, open with a Dragon Warhammer or Elder Maul special to reduce her defense or spike damage.
The Fight – AFK Made Easy
In the past, Sarachnis would throw a web that pinned you in place, requiring you to switch prayers and attack styles or mash your keyboard to break free. This made the fight pretty click-intensive.
With Arceuus boots equipped, this mechanic is completely nullified.
What does that means:
· You can now sit back, let auto-retaliate do the work.
· No more running around or prayer flicking to dodge range/magic attacks.
· All you need to do is stay within melee range and monitor your health and prayer.
Even the magic and ranged minions that spawn are manageable. Karil's top helps you tank their hits without any issues. You don't even need to kill them — Sarachnis dies fairly quickly, and they'll reset when the boss respawns.
Respawn Cycle and Kill Speed
Sarachnis respawns fairly quickly — about 10 seconds — in the center of the room.
To prep for the next kill:
· Stay on Protect from Melee.
· Keep Piety active.
· Ensure Auto-retaliate is still turned on.
· Eat food or sip restore as needed.
· Click nothing else.
Each kill can take 30–60 seconds depending on your stats and gear. That's a solid pace for semi-AFK bossing.
Loot and Profit
Even without rare drops, Sarachnis can still bring a good profit in OSRS gold.
Notable drops:
· Sarachnis cudgel – ~500k GP
· Rune items
· Red spider's eggs (Giant egg sac) – great Herblore supply
· Prayer potions
· Runes
· Elite clue scrolls
· Pet chance (~1/3000)
Expect average profits of 100–200k per kill, not including the potential cudgel drop or clue scrolls.
Tips for Maximizing AFK Potential
· Use Arceuus boots — Without these, the web attack will ruin your AFK experience.
· Auto-retaliate ON — Always double-check it's on before each kill.
· Don't summon Thralls if you want maximum AFK — They require maintenance and drag attention.
·Use defensive gear for the magic minion — Karil's top is the MVP here.
· Spec weapon is optional — If you're truly AFKing, you can skip the special attack and just rely on consistent DPS.
Final Thoughts
Sarachnis has gone from being a mildly annoying mid-level boss to one of the most relaxing, AFK-friendly PvM options in OSRS thanks to the addition of the Arceuus boots. If you're an Ironman looking to stockpile red spider eggs, someone grinding for the cudgel, or a casual player farming for a cool pet, this method makes the experience significantly easier.
Don't let her looks scare you off — Sarachnis is no longer a web-slinging menace. With the right setup and a bit of patience, you'll rack up a kill count with minimal effort.
If you found this guide helpful, feel free to share it around or leave suggestions for future boss guides. Good luck on your Sarachnis grind — may the pet be in your favor!
