Complete OSRS Araxyte Slayer Guide (2025)

Apr-24-2025 PST

Welcome to my comprehensive Slayer guide for Araxytes in OSRS! If you're on a Slayer task for these venomous spiders and want to make the most out of your time, you're in the right place. This is a full breakdown of everything you need to know to take on Araxytes effectively, whether you're a seasoned adventurer or a humble Ironman.

But today, it's all about their smaller, Slayer-task-exclusive cousins: Araxytes. Let's jump right in with everything from how to get there, gear, inventory setups, mechanics, and how to maximize your OSRS gold per hour.

Getting to Araxytes

There are several viable routes to reach Araxytes, all leading to the Morytania Spider Nest Dungeon. Your chosen route might depend on your quest progression, teleport availability, or whether you're an Ironman.

Most Common Options:

• Ectophial

This is the go-to method for many players, especially Ironmen. The Ectophial teleports you just north of the dungeon entrance near the Ectofuntus. From there, it's a short jog south to the cave.

• Spider Cave Teleport (from Araxxor)

If you've been killing Araxxor and obtained this teleport, it's a great option to get right to the action.

• Hallowed Sepulchre Teleport + Agility Shortcut

If you've unlocked the Level 63 Agility shortcut in the area, teleport to the Hallowed Sepulchre and use the shortcut to hop over the wall and access the dungeon quickly.

• Drakan's Medallion – Ver Sinhaza Teleport

Another fast teleport for players who have completed A Taste of Hope. Run north from Ver Sinhaza to the spider cave.

Tip for Ironmen: If you haven't unlocked any fancy teleports, the Ectophial is still one of the best and most consistent options.

Gear Setup

Araxytes are melee-based monsters, and their attacks are 100% melee. This makes your protection prayers incredibly effective, allowing you to tailor your setup around praying melee and maximizing your prayer bonus or damage output.

Recommended Gear:

• Helm: Slayer Helm (imbued if possible)

• Body & Legs: Proselyte for prayer bonus, or Bandos/Dharok's for DPS

• Weapon: Best crush weapon you can access. I use my zombie axe, which balances crush damage and low charge usage

• Shield: Optional – you'll be using a cannon, so shield use is minimal

• Cape: Ardougne Cloak (prayer bonus), Fire Cape, or God Cape

• Gloves/Boots: Barrows gloves, or Arclight gloves if you're using demonbane weapons

• Ring: Berserker or Warrior Ring (imbued if possible)

• Amulet: Amulet of Fury, Salve (e) if undead (Araxytes are not), or Glory for budget setups

Crush weapons are key here. These spiders are weak to it. Avoid stab/slash setups unless that's all you've got.

Inventory Setup

A well-rounded inventory ensures you're efficient, self-sustaining, and maximizing your profit per trip.

Suggested Inventory:

• Super combat potion

• 3x Anti-venom+ potions – Araxytes apply venom with every hit

• Prayer potions (4-6) – depending on how long you plan to stay

• Dwarf multicannon + Cannonballs (1000+ if staying long)

• Herb sack – Great for saving inventory and picking up drops

• Ectophial – To teleport back out or return quickly

• Runes in rune pouch (Nature runes + Fire runes) – For High Alchemy

• Teleport to House / Home Teleport

• High Alchables (rune meds, daggers, etc.) – Free GP from drops

You'll likely want to bank every 40-60 minutes, depending on how many cannonballs you bring and your prayer usage.

Notable Drops & GP per Hour

While Araxytes are not boss-level profitable, they drop tons of alchable loot, and some key drops make them worth the grind, especially for Ironmen.

Drop Highlights:

• Rune daggers, rune med helms, rune platelegs

• Adamant longswords, battleaxes

• Aranea Boots – 1/1,600 on-task, 1/4,000 off-task

• Araxxor Heads – 1/2,000 drop rate, used for cosmetic Slayer Helm upgrades

• Araxyte Venom Sacks – Always dropped, useful for making Anti-venom(+)

• Superior Slayer Monster Drop Table – Includes:

   o Imbued Heart

   o Eternal Gem

   o Mist and Dust Battlestaves

   o Clue Scrolls

Ironman Tip: These venom sacks are extremely useful for potion making, and the steady rune and herb drops add passive skilling materials to your bank.

Killing Araxytes (Combat Strategy)

Once you're geared up and inside, it's time to get to work.

Slayer-Only Room Method (Best Method)

If you're on a Slayer task, head straight into the Slayer-only area. It's multi-combat, you can place your cannon, and you won't be interrupted by non-tasked players.

1. Activate Protect from Melee before entering.

2. Place your cannon near the back left section – it can hit both the front room and the side spiders.

3. Sip your Super Combat and Anti-venom+.

4. Stand in an aggro-safe spot to let the cannon do its work while you manually finish off Araxytes.

Why the Slayer Room is Best:

Multi-combat, no competition, and cannon efficiency is unmatched.

Superior Araxyte (Beware!)

The superior version of the Araxyte can spawn during your task, and it's no joke.

• Special Attack: Launches a venomous AoE attack. It can chunk you HARD if unprepared.

• Tip: Sip Anti-venom+ just before or during its venom attack to nullify the damage.

• Prayer: Keep Protect from Melee up at all times.

Killing the superior unlocks access to potential Imbued Hearts and Eternal Crystals, making it a must-kill.

Alternative Areas (If You're Off Task)

Can't access the Slayer-only room? No worries – there are a few other spots to grind Araxytes.

Entrance Area (Multi-combat)

• The first few rooms near the dungeon entrance have multi-combat Araxytes.

• You can still place your cannon here, though there may be competition.

• Decent if you're not on a task.

Southern Corridor (Single-combat)

• Some rooms deeper into the cave (through web tunnels) are single-combat, which is far less efficient.

• No cannon utility, slower kills, and higher resource drain.

Bottom Line: The Slayer-only area is best, the entrance is okay, rest is inefficient.

Additional Tips

• Avoid Venom: Always bring anti-venom+ – Araxytes apply venom 100% of the time.

• Cannonball Usage: Expect to use ~400–600 cannonballs per task, depending on kill speed.

• Stack High Alch runes in a pouch – Saves inventory space and makes banking less frequent.

• Recharging Prayer: Consider bringing a prayer cape or using POH rejuvenation pools between trips.

Final Thoughts

Araxytes might not be the most glamorous Slayer task in OSRS, but they are a sleeper hit when it comes to consistent profit, Ironman supplies, and Slayer XP. With a cannon, a good setup, and smart positioning, you can blaze through these spiders with ease. And who knows – you might even score some Aranea Boots or an Imbued Heart!

So next time you get assigned a spider task, don't cancel it – embrace it and go squash some Araxytes.
