Game Update: Hallowed Sepulchre Instances and More
Jun-21-2024 PSTHallowed Sepulchre Instances
Starting with the headline update, the Hallowed Sepulchre now offers the ability to create private instances. By paying 200 Hallowed Marks, players can toggle the option to have a private instance of the Sepulchre. This is significant for several reasons:
1. Consistent Obstacle Timings: In a private instance, all obstacles and moving parts will start from their static spawn points, making the timing consistent every run. Previously, if you entered the Sepulchre while someone else was inside, the obstacles would be in random positions, which could disrupt the flow and timing of your runs.
2. Efficiency: This change mainly benefits those who focus on efficiency, allowing for a more predictable and streamlined experience.
This update addresses the issues of variability and unpredictability caused by other players, making it an attractive option for those who prefer a consistent experience. Unlocking the private instance is relatively straightforward, requiring only about 1-2 hours to accumulate the necessary marks.
Carpenter’s Clothing Buff
The Carpenter's clothing from Mahogany Homes has received an update. Previously, the outfit provided a 2.5% XP boost when worn during construction tasks within homes. However, this boost did not apply to the large XP drops given upon completing a contract. The update ensures that the XP boost now applies to these completion rewards, providing a more substantial benefit to players who regularly undertake Mahogany Homes contracts.
Other Changes
The update also includes several quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes:
• Fishing Trawler Loot Distribution: Previously, the loot was divided among players remaining at the end of the encounter. Now, it will be divided based on the number of players when the ship sets off, preventing disproportionate rewards when players leave mid-game.
• Bounty Hunter Targeting: The options for targeting in Bounty Hunter have been adjusted. The range now only affects the maximum level of potential targets, with the minimum always being 15 levels below the player’s level.
• Clue Scroll Bug Fix: A bug causing false notifications of obtaining a clue scroll when opening a casket with a master clue in possession has been fixed.
• Dark Lure Spell Description: The description of the dark lure spell has been updated.
• Ancient Scepter Dismantling: Players can now dismantle ancient scepters with quartz attached, reclaiming the parts without any cost or sacrifice.
RuneScape Kingdoms Tabletop RPG
In celebration of Free RPG Day, players can obtain a free quick start guide for the RuneScape Kingdoms tabletop RPG. Information on participating stores is available through a link in the news post.
RuneFest Update
RuneFest, originally scheduled to be part of Insomnia in early September, has been postponed. This follows the collapse of Player One Events, the company responsible for organizing Insomnia. Despite efforts to find alternative arrangements, the event has been rescheduled to early 2025. Tickets purchased for this year’s event will remain valid, with refunds available for those who prefer them.
Bond Price Changes
On June 25th, the price of bonds will increase, though membership prices remain unchanged. In the US, the cost per bond will rise from $8 to $9. Bonds are primarily used for buying in-game OSRS GP rather than membership, so the impact will be more significant for those using bonds to acquire currency.
New Slayer Boss: Araxxor
A new Slayer boss, Araxxor, is proposed for OSRS. Araxxor is already a feature in RuneScape 3, but the OSRS version will differ significantly, focusing on melee combat without incorporating the Evolution of Combat (EoC) mechanics from RS3. The boss will require level 92 Slayer and will only be accessible on a Slayer task.
Fight Mechanics
While specific details are scarce to maintain a sense of discovery, some information has been shared:
• Proactive vs. Reactive Play: Players can choose to deal with Araxxor's minions before they hatch for an easier but slower fight, or let them loose for a faster but tougher battle.
• Typical Spider-Themed Mechanics: The fight will include smaller spiders, venom, and acid attacks.
Rewards
Araxxor offers three types of rewards: untradeables, consumables, and unique items.
• Untradeables: These include the Araxxor Slayer Helm, a pet, and the Jar of Venom, which will be the first untradeable jar in the game.
• Consumables: Venom glands for extended anti-venom potions and teleport scrolls to return to the boss.
• Equipment: The Araxxor Boots, offering specific advantages in combat scenarios involving webs, and the Noxious Halberd, designed as a five-tick DPS weapon with a special venom-inflicting effect.
The latest OSRS update brings significant improvements and new content, particularly for those who enjoy the Hallowed Sepulchre and Slayer tasks. The introduction of private instances for the Sepulchre addresses a long-standing issue of inconsistency, while buffs to existing items and new features like the Araxxor boss promise to enhance gameplay. With ongoing events like the Deadman Allstars and upcoming changes to bond pricing, there is plenty to keep players engaged. As always, the OSRS community can look forward to a continuously evolving game with regular updates and new challenges.
