Gate of Elidinis Fast & Easy Kills Guide
Sep-29-2024 PSTWelcome, adventurers! Today, we're diving deep into one of the newest challenges in Old School RS (OSRS)—the Gate of Elad, a skilling boss that combines resource gathering, combat strategy, and careful timing. In this guide, I’ll walk you through a method to defeat the boss in under 3 minutes and 30 seconds without much hassle.
Requirements
To access the Gate of Elad, you’ll first need to complete the Odor of Awar quest. The boss itself isn’t explicitly restricted by any minimum skill requirements, but having high levels of mining and mobility skills will make a significant difference in both efficiency and survivability.
Here’s a breakdown of some key recommendations:
• Mining: Mining is the most important skill when facing the Gate of Elad. Aim for level 90 or higher for optimal performance. Boosts such as the Magic Golem Outfit, Tagas Core Hammer, Rock Crushing Scrimshaw, and Cory Master Aura will give you an edge in the fight.
• Mobility Abilities: Speed and mobility are vital. Focus on skills like Escape, Surge, and Dive to swiftly move across the arena and avoid damage. Equip a main-hand weapon with the Mobile Invention perk to reduce cooldowns, or use the Shadows Grace Archaeology Relic Power for added movement bonuses.
• Beast of Burden Familiar: I highly recommend using a familiar such as the Pack Yak. This will allow you to store shards, manage your inventory, and stay focused on the fight. Using a Beast of Burden can significantly simplify the encounter, especially for those following this guide.
Now, let’s break down the fight step by step.
Overview of the Gate of Elad Arena
The Gate of Elad’s arena is divided into two sections:
1. Northern Section (north of the barrier)
2. Southern Section (south of the barrier)
The southern section is safer, while the northern section allows for faster shard gathering. You’ll need to balance the risk and reward as you work through the boss mechanics.
Key Mechanics:
• Moonstone Fragments: Collect these fragments to repair conduits and strengthen the barrier, giving you protection from the more dangerous northern section. You can repair the conduits before the PS (the red bar above the boss) activates, but I recommend saving time by focusing on other priorities unless necessary.
• PES Shards: You damage the boss by mining PES (rock piles) for shards. Mining piles north of the barrier gather shards much faster than in the southern section. A special action allows you to slam the boss with these shards for a bonus damage boost of 25%.
• Avoiding Damage: The boss uses various telegraphed attacks that you must dodge. If you fail to avoid them, not only do you take damage, but the boss also heals, prolonging the fight.
• Minion Waves: Periodically, the boss will spawn minions that heal it if they aren’t quickly dispatched. Click on these minions as soon as they appear to minimize healing.
Step-by-Step Strategy to Defeat the Gate of Elad
Step 1: Start the Encounter
Begin by clicking on the NPC to start the encounter. Afterward, collect a few Moonstone Fragments to strengthen the barrier if needed (though this will only be necessary if you make a mistake).
Next, move to the northeastern corner of the arena and get ready for the shards to spawn once the red bar above the boss fills. This positioning is key to ensuring you can quickly access the PES piles.
Step 2: Gather Shards Efficiently
Once the red bar is fully charged, the PES piles will spawn. The best tactic here is to stand in tile 3 and move between tiles 1 and 3 to avoid attacks while gathering shards. This allows you to dodge mechanics while consistently mining shards.
You will have about three XP drops (a few seconds) to transmute and gather shards between attacks. When you’re nearing the end of your transmuting, hit the special action button to prepare for your next major move.
Step 3: Utilize Your Special Action Button
The special action button gives you a window of time to mine shards without being interrupted. This will help you gather shards faster. Once the special action button turns blue, click it again to begin mining the shards that will automatically enter your inventory.
After mining, move to the southern pile using Bladed Dive or another mobility ability. This pile is smaller but still useful while you wait for the next major event in the fight. Once you’ve mined this pile, head back to the northeastern section to continue farming shards.
Step 4: Avoid Major Damage and Attack the Boss
At this point, the boss will prepare to unleash a massive damage-dealing attack. You can survive this either by using a Barricade or by standing in Kolin’s Little Green Circle (a safe zone that appears during the attack).
Once the special action button has recharged, activate it again to prepare for the next phase. Return to the safe zone and begin mining the southern pile to the southeast. Use your Beast of Burden familiar to store shards by keybinding a shard to your action bar and holding the key to deposit them.
Step 5: Final Phase and Finishing the Boss
During the last phase of the fight, avoid the larger, more powerful attacks. Use Dive or other mobility abilities to quickly reset cooldowns and avoid dangerous telegraphed strikes. Keep your health high by eating food while you’re on the move to avoid being overwhelmed by attacks.
Once you’ve depleted the last pile, use the special action button one last time to climb the pillars and slam the boss for a huge damage boost. Though it used to be possible to kill the boss instantly this way, a recent patch by Jagex changed this mechanic, meaning you’ll now need to finish off the remaining 2,000 life points of the boss manually.
Step 6: Avoid Instant-Kill Mechanics
Throughout the fight, the boss will use an instant-kill mechanic if you don’t avoid certain attacks. Stand in the green circle or use Barricade with Necromancy runes to survive.
As you close in on victory, gather any remaining shards to finish off the boss. Each shard will deal 2,500 damage, so you can easily finish the fight if you’ve been managing your resources well.
Final Thoughts
The Gate of Elad is a complex but rewarding skilling boss that requires a combination of careful resource management, quick reflexes, and strategic use of mobility abilities. By following this guide, you should be able to consistently defeat the boss in under 3 minutes and 30 seconds. If you’re struggling at first, don’t worry! Practice makes perfect, and the more you run through the encounter, the better your timing and efficiency will become.
