Guide to Defeating the Cerys Queen in OSRS
Sep-13-2024 PSTWelcome to my guide on tackling the Cerys Queen (KQ) in Old School RS (OSRS). You're in the right place if you want to conquer this formidable boss efficiently and with minimal damage. In this guide, we'll cover everything from prerequisites to gear setups, and I'll share some tips for nearly flawless kills. Let's dive right in!
Quest Requirements and Preparations
To take on the Cerys Queen, you first need to meet a few quest requirements:
1. Fairy Tale II – Cure a Queen: This quest unlocks the fairy rings essential for efficient travel.
2. Beneath Cursed Sands: Completing this quest gives you access to the Caris Partisan, a powerful weapon against the Cerys Queen.
3. A Kingdom Divided: This quest allows you to use the Arceuus Spellbook, which includes useful spells like Resurrection.
In addition to these quests, there are several recommended minimum stats to ensure a smoother battle:
• 80 Strength, Defense, and Attack: These levels are necessary to use the Caris Partisan effectively.
• 75 Ranged: Required to wield the blowpipe, a key ranged weapon.
• 76 Magic: Grants access to Resurrection spells, crucial for the battle.
• 70 Prayer: Necessary for using protection prayers. If you have Rigor unlocked, you'll need 74 Prayers.
Suggested Diary Achievements
1. Hard Desert Diary: Completing this diary provides a permanent rope in the Calphite layer, saving you from carrying ropes each time.
2. Elite Desert Diary: Unlocks a shortcut that significantly reduces the time spent navigating through the cave.
Gear and Inventory Setup
When gearing up to fight the Cerys Queen, your setup is crucial. Here’s a recommended loadout:
Melee Gear
• Caris Partisan: This weapon provides a 33% bonus damage against all Calphites. The upgraded version, Caris Partisan of Breaching, offers an additional 33% accuracy bonus.
• Dragon Warhammer: Use this to lower the Cerys Queen’s defense, making subsequent attacks more effective.
• Best Melee Armor: Equip the best melee gear you have to maximize your damage output and defense.
Ranged Gear
• Blowpipe: The best choice for ranged attacks. Ensure it is loaded with at least Rune darts.
• Best Ranged Armor: Wear the highest tier of ranged gear you possess for optimal performance.
• Ring of Suffering (i): Provides extra defense and recoil damage to the Cerys Queen.
Inventory
• Stamina Potion: If you haven’t unlocked the shortcut, this will help with running through the cave.
• Prayer Potion: To maintain your prayer points.
• Ranging Potion: Boosts your ranged attack.
• Super Combat Potion: Provides a significant boost to strength, attack, and defense.
• Antidote++: Protects against poison.
• Sharks or Best Healing Food: To heal during the fight.
• Book of the Dead: Used to cast Trolls.
• Divine Rune Pouch: With Fire, Blood, and Cosmic runes for summoning Trolls.
• Crafting Cape: For teleporting to a bank.
• House Teleport: To replenish stats and access the fairy ring quickly.
The Battle Strategy
• Teleport and Preparation: Teleport to the fairy ring BQ. If you have the Elite Diary completed, you can bypass certain obstacles. Otherwise, you’ll need to navigate through the cave. Drink your stamina potion if necessary.
• Entering the Layer: At the entrance to the Cerys Queen's layer, drink your Super Combat Potion, activate your prayer, and prepare to engage.
• Melee Phase:
o Pre-Fight Setup: Drink your Super Combat Potion and activate your prayer. Cast Trolls if you have the Book of the Dead and Divine Rune Pouch ready.
o Engage: Start by using your double spec attack (e.g., Dragon Warhammer) to lower the Cerys Queen’s defense. Switch to your Caris Partisan and focus on dealing with damage.
o Avoid Damage: If you are taking too much damage, move under the Cerys Queen by holding Shift and clicking on the ground. This technique helps avoid most of her attacks.
• Ranged Phase:
o Gear Switch: When the Cerys Queen transitions to her ranged attack phase, switch to your ranged gear and use the blowpipe. Drink your Ranging Potion and activate Rigor.
o Continue DPS: Maintain high damage output while managing your health. If you’re taking too much damage, utilize the shift-click technique to move under her and heal.
• Repeat and Refine:
o Healing: Always keep an eye on your health and make sure to heal when necessary.
o Repetition: After each kill, teleport back to the bank, deposit your loot, and replenish your stats using your house teleport or a nearby POH with a rejuvenation pool.
Zero Damage Method
For those aiming for minimal damage, follow these steps:
• Gear Setup: Bring only your melee gear, Caris Partisan, and necessary potions. Leave your ranged gear and OSRS gold in the bank.
• Fight Strategy:
o Melee Phase: Use the same strategy as before but focus on "dancing" with the Cerys Queen. Attack and then quickly move under her to avoid damage. This technique is similar to flinching and helps you take minimal damage.
o Ranged Phase: Continue to switch to your ranged gear and apply the same "dancing" method. Keep an eye on your health and heal as needed.
• Efficiency: This method may take a bit longer but is effective in conserving supplies.
Conclusion
With this guide, you should be well-prepared to take on the Cerys Queen in OSRS with confidence and efficiency. Remember to use the gear and methods that best suit your play style and keep practicing to perfect your technique.
