Guide to Leveling Magic in Old School RuneScape: From 1 to 99

Nov-16-2023 PST

Leveling Magic in Old School RuneScape (OSRS) can seem like a daunting task, but with the right methods and techniques, reaching Level 99 can be a surprisingly simple endeavor. In this comprehensive guide, we will walk you through various training methods and strategies to efficiently boost your Magic skill, including some AFK Magic Training Techniques to add variety to your routine. Whether you're a free-to-play (F2P) player or a member, we've got you covered.

F2P Methods:

Splashing: Splashing is an inexpensive and efficient technique for training Magic until you unlock the High-Level Alchemy spell. To get started, equip an Amulet of Magic, a Zamorak Robe Bottom, a Wizard's Hat, a Wizard's Robe Top, and an elemental staff. Splashing involves casting a curse spell on a monster while wearing a full suit of armor and using either Dragonhide Vambraces or the Cursed Goblin Staff. This method can yield up to 29,000 experience points per hour and is superior to other spells until level 55.

Curse Alching: Similar to Stun Alching but with a weaker curse, Curse Alching involves using High-Level Alchemy in between casting Curse on a monster. Equip Green Dragonhide Vambraces and armor, and you can achieve up to 100,000 XP per hour with efficient training.

Members Methods:

Fire Strike: Fire Strike is a useful spell for low-level targets and money-making activities like blue dragon safe spotting. To quickly level up, complete the Witch's Potion and Imp Catcher quests to reach Level 10 Magic. Then, grind with Fire Strike and a Magic potion to reach level 13. Fire Strike is particularly effective against high-level monsters and can help you navigate areas like the Gnome Stronghold and the Fight Arena. With reasonable precision and Curse runes, you can earn at least 20,000 experience per hour.

Flames of Zamorak: This spell costs slightly more than 100 OSRS Gold to cast but offers higher baseline XP per spell and increased maximum hit compared to Fire Strike. Wear Chaos Gauntlets obtained during the Family Crest quest to enhance the maximum damage by 3. Flames of Zamorak is ideal for targeting money-making creatures like Steel Dragons while minimizing costs.

Superheat Items: Superheat Items is a great way to passively gain Smithing experience while training Magic. By focusing on this spell for an hour, you can earn at least 80,000 experience points. All you need is an air staff and a single law rune to cast this spell.

High-Level Alchemy (HLA): HLA is a cost-effective method to train Magic, as it only requires an item to alchemize, such as battlestaves, and nature runes. While HLA does not require any preparation time, it can be integrated into other activities like Agility training or questing. You can use HLA between melee strikes while leveling Slayer to maximize your training time.

These methods should help you progress steadily towards Level 99 Magic in Old School RuneScape. Remember to adapt your training routine based on your available resources and preferences. Good luck on your magical journey!
