Old School RS: Hardcore PvP Road to Rank One Bounty Hunter
Aug-09-2024 PSTToday, I'm diving into a new challenge that will push my skills to the limit: a hardcore PvP journey to become the rank-one Bounty Hunter in Old School RS (OSRS). This isn't just another grind through months of PvM, questing, and skilling—this time, it's different. I'm setting out to make a 50-attack pure to dominate the Bounty Hunter scene. There are short-term and long-term goals, but the focus is on efficiency, speed, and sheer determination.
Setting the Stage: A Quick and Concise Plan
To achieve rank one in Bounty Hunter as fast as possible, I'm cutting out the unnecessary grinds and focusing solely on what's essential. The primary objectives are obtaining the Granite Maul and Fire Cape. Beyond that, I'll need to carefully plan my PK setup to maximize my effectiveness in Bounty Hunter.

I intend to speedrun this account, pushing it to its limits with daily grinding sessions, all in the pursuit of rank one in under a month. It's going to be intense, but I'm confident that with a well-structured plan, I can achieve my goal. The clock is ticking, and it's time to log in, create the name, and begin this epic journey.
The Grind Begins: Early Priorities and Strategy
First things first, I need to tackle the essentials that will set the foundation for my account. I've made several accounts like this in the past, so I know what needs to be done to fast-track my progress. The initial focus will be on completing Gertrude's Cat quest as quickly as possible. This will allow me to start raising a kitten, which will later be exchanged for death runes—crucial for early Magic training.
With a bucket of milk, 100 coins, and a raw sardine in hand, I'll make my way to the Stronghold of Security to claim the 10K GP reward. This OSRS gold will be essential for early game expenses, including the purchase of runes and supplies needed for questing and skilling.
A Pure with Purpose: Efficient Skilling and Questing
The goal is to keep questing and skilling to an absolute minimum, only doing what's necessary for my PK build. As a one-defense pure, I'll need Myth Gloves, which are relatively quick to obtain. The primary stats I'll focus on are 50 Attack, high Strength, decent Ranged, and Magic for bursting Slayer tasks. I'll also need to achieve 44 Prayer for protection prayers and around 80 HP for survivability.

For Ranged and Magic, I'll mostly rely on Sand Crabs for training, alongside completing a few key quests like Desert Treasure (DT) for Ice Barrage, which will be essential for both PvM and PvP. Although DT is a bit of a grind, it's necessary to unlock bursting for Slayer and freezing abilities in Bounty Hunter. Other necessary quests include Death Plateau for Climbing Boots, which are a must-have for any pure.
Bounty Hunter Prep: Weapon and Gear Setup
Once my stats and basic gear are sorted, it's time to plan my Bounty Hunter setup. The Granite Maul (G Maul) will be the primary KO weapon due to its high burst damage potential, which is ideal for a 50-attack pure. I'm also considering the Obsidian Maul (Obby Maul) as a secondary option, though the G Maul's special attack makes it superior for quick, decisive kills.

For my Ranged weapon, there are a few options to consider. A Magic Shortbow (MSB) is a solid choice, but I'm also thinking about grinding for an Atlatl Dart, which would be a significant upgrade. However, obtaining it might be more challenging than expected, given the required stats and questlines.
The Fast-Paced Journey: Speedrunning to Rank One
With the essentials in place, the real grind begins. The plan is to AFK train Strength and Ranged at Sand Crabs while passively leveling Slayer for Magic XP. To save time, I'll aim to boost for higher-level potions rather than manually grinding out the Herblore levels, which could slow down the account's progress.
One of the more tedious tasks will be obtaining the required kudos for Bone Voyage, which is necessary for Birdhouse runs. These runs will provide passive Hunter XP, helping me reach the 750 total level needed for Last Man Standing (LMS). LMS will play a significant role in this account's progress, offering a way to practice PvP while earning valuable rewards.
Navigating the Obstacles: Overcoming Challenges
No journey in OSRS is without its hurdles; this one is no different. Some of the key challenges include completing difficult quests with minimal stats, managing low-level PvM encounters, and navigating the dangerous wilderness as a low-defense pure. The plan is to carefully strategize each step, ensuring that I minimize risks while maximizing efficiency.
For example, obtaining Magic Logs for Desert Treasure could be a pain, so I might have to do some revenant hunting off-stream to secure the logs. Additionally, I'll need to complete quests like Plague City and Biohazard to unlock useful teleports and crafting methods.
Another potential issue is deciding on the best Ranged weapon for Bounty Hunter. While the Atlatl Dart would be ideal, it requires high Hunter and Ranged levels, which might not be feasible within the tight timeframe. Instead, I might settle for an MSB or try my luck with clue scrolls for better gear.
Wrapping Up: The Path to Rank One
As I embark on this intense journey, the key to success will be staying focused on the end goal. Every decision, every quest, and every training session is a step toward becoming the top Bounty Hunter in OSRS. This RuneScape account will be built with precision, ensuring that every aspect is optimized for PvP dominance.
The early days will be a blur of questing, skilling, and grinding out the essentials. But once the foundation is laid, it'll be all about perfecting my PK setup and climbing the Bounty Hunter ranks.
So, gentlemen, the grind begins now. It's time to create the account, log in, and start this epic journey. Stay tuned for updates. The road ahead is challenging, but I'm ready for the grind. Let's get started!
