OSRS Black Demon Slayer Guide

Feb-07-2025 PST

Hello everyone! How are you all doing? Hopefully, you're having a fantastic day. Today, we’re diving into a detailed Slayer guide for Black Demons in OSRS. As part of my endless journey to create as many Slayer guides as possible, I hope to assist mid-to-high-level Slayers with this detailed breakdown.

If you find this guide helpful, feel free to leave a comment with any additional tips or personal preferences you have when tackling this task. With that said, let’s get into the guide!

Should You Kill Black Demons?

If you ask me, the answer is yes. Most of my Slayer guides recommend completing tasks unless they are inefficient or overly challenging. Black Demons offer a great Slayer experience, and when using an Arclight, they become incredibly easy to handle.

Early on, they may be a bit slow and frustrating due to their high HP and decent Defense, but once you progress further in Slayer, they become a much more manageable task. Plus, they are cannonable and can be an AFK-friendly task, making them appealing to players who enjoy passive XP gains.

If you’re a player looking to maximize your Slayer efficiency, this is a task you should complete rather than skip. It provides decent loot, consistent experience, and is relatively easy with the right setup.

Requirements

Before heading out to kill Black Demons, ensure you meet the following requirements:

Minimum Combat Requirements:

60+ in Combat Stats (Attack, Strength, and Defense)

• 43+ Prayer (Highly recommended for Protect from Melee)

• 70+ Strength or Agility (If accessing Taverley Dungeon through shortcuts)

Alternative Combat Options:

• If using Ranged or Magic, you can start at any level, but the task will be very slow. Safe-spotting is recommended.

Black Demon Combat Information

Attack Styles:

• Melee Only – Black Demons only use melee attacks, making Protect from Melee highly effective.

Weaknesses:

• Black Demons are equally resistant to all combat styles, but they do not have exceptionally high defenses.

• Best Weapon: Arclight (Provides a significant damage boost against demons)

• Alternative Weapons: Abyssal Whip, Dragon Scimitar, Saradomin Sword

Max Hit:

• 16-17, depending on the variation of Black Demon.

Drops and Profitability

Black Demons do not have an outstanding loot table, but they do drop some useful items:

While the GP per kill is not incredibly high, you can expect some return to help cover prayer potion costs. If you're a clue hunter, this task is a solid way to collect Hard Clue Scrolls efficiently.

Recommended Gear and Setup

Melee Setup

For optimal DPS, you’ll want to use Arclight if available. Here are some suggested melee setups:

Budget Setup:

• Helmet: Proselyte Helm / Neitiznot Helm

• Body: Proselyte Platebody / Fighter Torso

• Legs: Proselyte Platelegs / Verac’s Skirt

• Boots: Dragon Boots / Rune Boots

• Gloves: Barrows Gloves / Regen Bracelet

• Weapon: Dragon Scimitar (or Abyssal Whip if Arclight is unavailable)

• Cape: Fire Cape / Ardougne Cloak

• Ring: Warrior Ring / Berserker Ring

• Necklace: Amulet of Fury / Amulet of Glory

Optimal Setup:

• Helmet: Slayer Helmet (i) / Neitiznot Helmet

• Body: Bandos Chestplate / Fighter Torso

• Legs: Bandos Tassets / Verac’s Skirt

• Boots: Primordial Boots

• Gloves: Barrow Gloves

• Weapon: Arclight (Best in Slot for Black Demons)

• Food (Sharks/Monkfish if not praying)

• Teleportation: House Teleport / Slayer Ring / Xeric’s Talisman

• Herb Sack (Optional but recommended)

• High Alch Runes (For alching rune and adamant drops)

Locations and Safe Spots

Catacombs of Kourend (Best for AFK and Slayer XP)

• Teleport: Xeric’s Heart (Xeric’s Talisman) or Kourend Castle Teleport

• Why Here?

   • Multi-combat zone (Faster kills if using a cannon)

   • Totem Piece drops

   • Good for Konar Key farming

Taverley Dungeon (Best for Cannoning & Faster Kills)

• Teleport: Falador Teleport / Games Necklace (Burthorpe)

• Why Here?

   • Great for cannoning (Speeds up Slayer XP per hour)

   • Close to a bank

   • Must have 70 Agility or a Dusty Key to access

Safe Spot Locations:

• Catacombs of Kourend: Behind obstacles near the entrance

• Taverley Dungeon: Behind the rock formations

Slayer XP Rates

If you’re looking to maximize efficiency, here are the Slayer XP rates you can expect at different combat levels:

For overall Combat XP, multiply these values by 4 to estimate your Attack/Strength/Defense XP.

Conclusion

Black Demons are an excellent Slayer task that should not be skipped by mid-to-high-level players. With Arclight, the kills become significantly easier, and the XP rates are solid. While the loot is not game-changing, consistent Clue Scrolls, Konar Keys, and moderate OSRS gold per kill make it a worthwhile task.

Whether you prefer an AFK-friendly approach in Catacombs of Kourend or a fast-paced cannoning session in Taverley Dungeon, Black Demons remain a great Slayer task.

Good luck on your Slayer grind, and happy hunting!
