OSRS Bloodveld Slayer Guide 2025 - Locations, Setups, Safe Spots & More
Aug-05-2025 PSTWelcome to my guide on Bloodvelds in OSRS. Whether you're a mid-level player on your Slayer journey or a high-level min-maxer looking to optimize your task efficiency, this guide covers everything you need to know about killing Bloodvelds – both normal and mutated variants.
We'll dive deep into gear setups, prayer configurations, safe spots, inventory planning, wilderness strategies, and of course, all seven locations where you can kill these creatures. We've also included tips for using tools like RuneLite and the NOBS Slayer Calculator to elevate your efficiency even further.
Bloodvelds Overview
There are two main types of Bloodvelds in OSRS:
· Normal Bloodvelds – Weaker, found in a variety of locations
· Mutated Bloodvelds – Stronger, more aggressive, usually better for cannoning or AoE spells
Key Stats
Variant Slayer Level Attack Style Max Hit Defense Level
Normal Bloodveld 50 Magical Melee 8 Very Low
Mutated Bloodveld 50 Magical Melee 11 Very Low
Important: You can completely negate damage by using Protect from Melee since they only use a single magical melee attack style.
Gear & Setup Philosophy
Since Bloodvelds have extremely low defense stats, your focus shouldn't be on accuracy. Instead, prioritize damage output (range or magic strength) and prayer bonuses. Here's the basic strategy for each combat style:
Ranged Setup
· Best weapon first (Bowfa, Blowpipe, or MSB, depending on your level)
· Focus on range strength (e.g., Ava's Assembler, Dragonstone bolts)
· Prioritize prayer bonus gear: Ring of the Gods, Devout Boots, etc.
· Chin Option: If using chinchompas, group the Bloodvelds using an alt account.
Avoid: Accuracy items like Archer's Ring or Pegasian boots – they offer little to no benefit.
Magic Setup
· Focus on magic damage gear: Ancestral, Occult Necklace, Tumeken's Shadow, etc.
· Prayer gear is great if you don't have top-tier magic gear.
· Barrage/Bursting: Mutated Bloodvelds are size 2, so you can group them for splash damage spells with an alt.
Melee Setup
· Prioritize high strength bonuses and prayer gear
· Protect Melee if you're praying, or go for magic defense gear (Karil's, Ring of Suffering) and bring food if not
· Mutated Bloodvelds should always be killed with prayer due to higher damage
Wilderness Setups
Risk Management is Key. Use only 3 valuables and fill the rest with god items and cheap welfare.
· For ranged, don't bring over 300 arrows or 1000 darts/knives.
· For magic, keep it to under 1000 casts.
· Limit Revenant Ether to 2,000 or less in Wildy weapons.

Inventory & Prayer Configuration
Your inventory will change depending on style, but here's a general format:
Inventory:
· Stat-boosting potions (Ranging/Bastion/Magic/Combat)
· Prayer potions or Super restores
· Teleport out (Ectophial, Seed Pod, etc.)
· Cannon and cannonballs if allowed
· Rune pouch (if using magic)
· Darts or Chins for aggro-pulling
· Food (if no prayer used)
Prayer Setup:
Customize based on style, but generally:
· Protect from Melee
· Offensive prayers: Eagle Eye, Rigour, Piety, Augury, Mystic Might
· Quick Prayers: Mix of Protect + Offense for fast reactivation
Alt Account Aggro Method (Advanced)
Using an alt to aggressively pull Bloodvelds can massively increase your kill rate. Here's how:
1. Turn auto retaliate OFF
2. Turn Protect from Melee ON
3. Drink Stamina/Guthix Rest if needed
4. Run in a J-path, aggroing Bloodvelds
5. Group them on a marked floor tile
6. The main account uses AoE damage
7. Once dead, repeat the process
This method works best in the Catacombs and Myreque labs due to the map layout and creature density.
