OSRS Bloodveld Slayer Guide - Locations, Gear, and Tips

Aug-21-2025 PST

Bloodvelds are a popular slayer task in Old School RuneScape. In this guide, we'll cover everything you need to know, including the difference between normal and mutated Bloodvelds, the best gear to use, and the different locations where you can kill them.

Bloodveld Basics

There are two types of Bloodvelds:

· Normal Bloodvelds – Easier to kill with lower stats.

· Mutated Bloodvelds – Stronger with higher hitpoints but still low defense.

You need 50 Slayer to kill them. They use a magical melee attack, so the best way to defend is to use Protect from Melee. If you're fighting weaker Bloodvelds, wearing magic defense gear can also help reduce damage.

Gear and Combat Styles

No matter what style you use, focus on damage rather than accuracy since Bloodvelds have low defense.

Ranged Setup:

· Use the strongest ranged weapon you can.

· Prioritize ranged strength bonuses.

· Use prayer gear to help with protection and damage-boosting prayers.

· Avoid gear like Archer's Ring or Pegasians, as accuracy isn't needed.

· Chincompas are effective if you use an alt OSRS account to group enemies.

Magic Setup:

· Focus on magic damage gear first.

· Add prayer gear to improve efficiency.

· Burst or barrage spells work well when monsters are grouped up.

Melee Setup:

· Use a strong melee weapon.

· Focus on strength bonuses, followed by prayer bonuses.

· If you don't want to use protection prayers, consider gear with high magic defense like Karil's.

· Bring plenty of food if not using protection prayers.

Wilderness Setups

If you're killing Bloodvelds in the Wilderness, try to bring as little risk as possible:

· Limit your valuable items to three key pieces.

· Use cheap god items and welfare gear.

· Don't bring more than 300 arrows, 1,000 casts, or 2,000 Revenant Ether.

· All setups should aim to risk less than 200k total.

Bloodveld Locations

There are seven main places to kill Bloodvelds. Here's a simple overview of each:

1. Catacombs of Kourend – Good for bursting and multi-luring. Teleport using Xeric's talisman or Kourend Castle teleport. You can safe spot or use an alt to group enemies.

2. God Wars Dungeon – Requires 60 strength or agility and one god item from each faction. Use Trollheim teleport and protect from missiles when passing trolls. Bloodvelds are just north inside the dungeon.

3. Iorwerth Dungeon – Unlocked by completing Song of the Elves. Easily accessible from Prifddinas. The Bloodvelds are right near the entrance, and it's a great place for using a cannon.

4. Meiyerditch Laboratories – Requires the Sins of the Father quest. Use the trapdoor south of the pub in Meiyerditch. There are mutated and normal Bloodvelds here. Safe spotting is possible.

5. Slayer Tower – Accessible with a Slayer ring, Fairy Ring CKS, or Salve Graveyard teleport. Use the Slayer-only basement for faster access if you're on a task. Cannon is not allowed.

6. Stronghold Slayer Cave – Use a Slayer ring or Spirit Tree. Cannon is allowed, and there are many safe spots.

7. Wilderness God Wars Dungeon – Risky but efficient. Use the obelisk, cemetery teleport, or burning amulet to get there. Watch out for PKers and turn on player indicators.

General Tips

· Always use Protect from Melee, especially when facing superior versions.

· Use a cannon where possible to speed up kills.

· Safe spotting is available at many locations.

· Group enemies using an alt account for faster burst or barrage training.

· Monitor your prayer points if you're using protection prayers for long sessions.

Bloodvelds are one of the easiest and most consistent Slayer tasks in OSRS. With the right gear and location, they're quick to kill and offer solid experience and OSRS gold. Try different setups to see what works best for your style and account.
