OSRS Cerberus Guide: Fast Slayer Boss Guide
Sep-18-2025 PSTIf you're looking to tackle one of the most challenging Slayer bosses in Old School RuneScape, Cerberus is a must-know fight. Requiring 91 Slayer and a Hellhound task, Cerberus is located deep within the Taverley Dungeon. In this guide, we'll show you the fastest ways to fight her, including gear, inventory setups, strategies, and advanced methods to save supplies.
Getting to Cerberus
Cerberus' lair is accessible through two agility shortcuts inside the dungeon:
· Left Wall Shortcut: Requires 70 Agility
· Right Wall Shortcut: Requires 80 Agility
If you don't meet the agility requirements, you'll need a Dusty Key and a longer route around the dungeon to reach her safely.
Recommended Gear
Cerberus is weak to Crush attacks, but this guide will also show a ranged method, which works well for many players. Gear recommendations:
Melee:
· Fighter Torso with your best Crush weapon (Ark Light, Ember Light, Bludgeon, or Zombie Axe)
· High-defense gear for survivability
Ranged:
· Bow of Faerdhinen (BofA) with Crystal armor
· God d'hide with Toxic Blowpipe
· Bring the best range gear you have; no need to match maxed setups
Optional:
· Spectral Spirit Shield to reduce prayer drain, especially during ghost spawns
Inventory Setup
A proper inventory will make the fight smoother:
· Prayer potions: Bring as many as possible
· Saradomin or Super restore: To maintain high prayer
· Food: High-healing items like sharks or manta rays
· Special attack weapon: Optional for faster kills
· Teleportation item: In case of emergency
The Fight Mechanics
Standard Triple Attack
Cerberus uses a repeating triple attack every 10 hits:
1. Magic attack: Pre-pray Magic
2. Ranged attack: Pre-pray Ranged
3. Melee attack: Pre-pray Melee
Swap prayers immediately when you see the attack animation start. If you're using melee gear, stay on your weakest defense prayer against the third attack for safety.
Special Attacks
1. Ghost Spawns:
· Three ghosts appear behind Cerberus (Blue = Magic, Green = Ranged, Red = Melee)
· Each ghost drains 30 Prayer (or 15 with Spectral Spirit Shield) if not prayed against
· Strategy: Focus left → middle → right ghost, then return to your normal prayer
2. Lava Pools:
· Cerberus creates 3x3 lava pools that deal damage if stepped on
· Simply move away and continue fighting
· Anti-fire potions reduce damage, but are optional
Note: When Cerberus is below 400 HP, ghosts spawn every 7th attack. Below 200 HP, lava pools appear every 5th attack.
Ranged Method
Stand a few tiles back from Cerberus for added safety. Otherwise, the mechanics are the same as the melee method.
Advanced Techniques
1. Red X Method:
· Stand underneath Cerberus, click the gate behind you to create a short stall
· Allows you to avoid attacks while your weapon cooldown ends
2. Demonic Offering Spell (Arceuus Spellbook, 84 Magic):
· Converts Demonic Ashes dropped by Cerberus into prayer points
· Useful for Ironman accounts to conserve prayer potions
· Strategy: After the second ghost, cast Demonic Offering for extra prayer points
Cerberus is a challenging but rewarding boss, dropping valuable loot and Slayer experience. With plenty of OSRS gold, the right gear, inventory, and prayer switching strategy, you can defeat her efficiently while conserving supplies.
This guide should help you maximize your efficiency against Cerberus, whether you're meleeing, ranging, or trying out advanced methods like the Demonic Offering spell.
