OSRS Dream Mentor Quest Guide

Mar-21-2026 PST

The Dream Mentor quest in Old School RuneScape is a mid-to-late game challenge that blends puzzle mechanics, dialogue optimization, and a demanding combat gauntlet. Completing it unlocks powerful Lunar spells and provides substantial experience rewards, making it a high-value quest for account progression.

Quest Requirements

Before starting Dream Mentor, ensure you meet the following prerequisites:

Completed Quests

· Lunar Diplomacy

· Edgar's Ruse

Skill Requirement

· 85 Combat Level (hard requirement — one of the few quests with this restriction)

Rewards

Completing Dream Mentor grants:

· Access to new Lunar spellbook spells

· 15,000 Hitpoints XP

· 10,000 Magic XP

· Dreamy Lamp (15,000 XP in a combat skill of your choice, excluding Attack and Prayer)

· 2 Quest Points

Required Items

You’ll need the following:

· Hammer

· Pestle and mortar

· Tinderbox

· Seal of passage

· 1 Astral rune

· 1 Goutweed

· Sack of 10 cabbages

· Sack of 10 potatoes

· Sack of 10 onions

Important:

If you lost your Seal of Passage, reclaim it from Brundt the Chieftain in Rellekka Longhall.

Getting Goutweed (If Needed)

If you didn’t save one from Edgar's Ruse, you’ll need to retrieve it from the Troll Stronghold.

Efficient Method:

· Teleport to Trollheim

· Navigate into the stronghold and reach the storeroom

· Time your movement between patrolling trolls

· Search the crate at the back for Goutweed

Tip: Grab two goutweed—one for this quest and one for Dragon Slayer II later.

Recommended Gear Setup

All four bosses are weak to Magic, so prioritize a magic-based setup:

Weapons

· Iban’s Staff (charged)

· Warped Sceptre

· Trident of the Seas / Swamp

Armor

· Splitbark / Swampbark / Bloodbark

· Hybrid defensive gear (focus on melee defense + positive magic accuracy)

Inventory

· ~300 casts worth of runes (or charged staff)

· 25 high-healing foods

· Magic potion or Battlemage potion

· Super defense potion

· 1 stamina potion

· 4 Moonclan teleports or Lunar Isle scrolls

Starting the Quest

Head to Lunar Isle and enter the dungeon in the northeast. Locate the Fallen Man (Cyrisus) to begin.

Step 1: Restoring Cyrisus (Health & Spirit Mechanics)

This section is more intricate than typical OSRS quests.

Health Restoration

· Feed him food using rotations (cabbage → potato → onion)

· He refuses repeated food types, so cycling is mandatory

· Reach 100% Health

Spirit Restoration

· Choose positive dialogue options

· Incorrect answers won’t fail the quest, but slow progress

· Reach 100% Spirit

This stage is essentially a dialogue optimization loop—continue selecting encouraging responses until thresholds are met.

Step 2: Retrieve His Gear

Teleport to the bank on Lunar Isle and speak with Bird’s-Eye Jack.

You must fill a chest with five items, based on your combat type:

Melee-Based Accounts

· Dragon med helm

· Abyssal whip

· Ahrim’s robe & skirt

· Ranger boots

Ranged-Based Accounts

· Splitbark helm

· Magic shortbow

· Karil’s top

· Torag’s legs

· Adamant boots

Magic-Based Accounts

· Robin Hood hat

· Ancient staff

· Dragon chainbody

· Black d’hide chaps

· Infinity boots

Return the chest to Cyrisus.

Step 3: Dream Potion Creation

Speak with the Oneiromancer near the Astral Altar to obtain a Dream Vial.

Then:

1. Fill the vial with water

2. Add Goutweed

3. Crush Astral rune → create shards

4. Grind shards → powder

5. Combine → Dream Potion

Step 4: The Boss Gauntlet

You’ll face four bosses consecutively, with NO prayer allowed and no teleporting out.

1. The Inadequacy (Hardest)

    · Uses melee and ranged

    · Stay in melee range to force melee attacks

    · Ignore spawned minions

2. The Everlasting

    · Melee-only

    · Safe-spot using the lectern

3. The Untouchable

    · Same mechanics as Everlasting

    · Safe-spot again

4. The Elusive (Easiest)

    · Low damage

    · Frequently burrows, tracks, and attacks

Critical Tip:

If you die, you must recreate the Dream Potion, including getting another Goutweed.

Step 5: Quest Completion

After defeating all bosses:

  · Return to the Oneiromancer

  · Complete final dialogue

Quest Complete!

Final Thoughts

Dream Mentor stands out in Old School RuneScape for combining:

· A strict combat requirement

· Unique dialogue-based mechanics

· A multi-phase boss gauntlet without prayer

While the Cyrisus section can feel tedious, the quest becomes straightforward with preparation—especially a strong magic setup and proper inventory planning.

If you're progressing toward late-game PvM or Lunar spellbook utility, this quest is absolutely worth completing early in your account’s mid-to-late game transition. The OSRS gold and items needed for this mission can be obtained directly from RSorder.
