OSRS Kalphite Queen Guide
Sep-08-2025 PSTThe Kalphite Queen (KQ) remains one of Old School RuneScape's most iconic bosses. With her two powerful forms and strong combat style mix, she can overwhelm unprepared adventurers. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to kill the Kalphite Queen effectively, including an advanced “almost zero damage” method that allows you to conserve supplies.
Quest Requirements
Before you head to the desert, make sure you've completed these quests for access and efficiency:
· Fairy Tale Part II – Cure a Queen: Grants access to fairy rings, making travel much easier.
· Beneath Cursed Sands: Required for the Keris Partisan, a weapon with bonus damage against Kalphites.
· A Kingdom Divided: Unlocks the Arceuus spellbook, allowing you to cast resurrection spells for troll summons.
Recommended Stats
While lower stats can work, these are the minimum levels you should aim for to make the fight smoother:
· 80 Attack, Strength, and Defence – To effectively use the Keris Partisan and tank KQ's hits.
· 75 Ranged – For the blowpipe phase.
· 76 Magic – To cast resurrection spells.
· 70 Prayer (74 if you want Rigour for ranged DPS).
Helpful Diary Rewards
· Desert Hard Diary: Keeps ropes permanently placed in the Kalphite Lair.
· Desert Elite Diary: Unlocks the cave shortcut, saving time when entering the lair.
Gear Setup
Melee Gear
· Best melee setup available.
· Dragon Warhammer (DWH) – Huge boost by lowering her Defence.
· Keris Partisan (or Keris Partisan of Breaching) – Deals +33% damage and accuracy to Kalphites.
Ranged Gear
· Toxic Blowpipe with at least rune darts.
· Best ranged gear you can afford.
· Ring of Suffering (i) – Provides defence and recoil damage.
Slayer Bonus
If you're lucky enough to get KQ as a Slayer task, always wear a Slayer Helmet (i) for the accuracy and damage boost.
Inventory Setup
Bring a mix of potions, utility items, and food:
· 1 Stamina potion (if you don't have the shortcut).
· Prayer potion.
· Ranging potion.
· Super combat potion.
· Antidote++ (KQ can poison).
· High-healing food (sharks or better).
· Book of the Dead – For troll summons.
· Rune pouch with fire, blood, and cosmic runes for resurrection spells.
· Crafting cape or teleport to the bank quickly.
· House teleport – To restore stats at a pool and access fairy rings.
The Fight: Phase by Phase
Phase 1 – Melee/Magic Form
1. Pre-pot with super combat.
2. Activate Protect from Magic and Piety.
3. Use DWH specs immediately.
4. Switch to the Keris Partisan for DPS.
5. If taking heavy damage, stand under KQ (shift + walk under) to avoid attacks and heal.
Phase 2 – Ranged/Magic Form
1. Switch to ranged gear and Rigour (or Eagle Eye if you don't have Rigour).
2. Continue DPS with the blowpipe.
3. Keep Protect from Magic on (she uses magic more often than ranged).
4. If needed, stand under her again to avoid incoming damage while healing.
After the kill, teleport out, bank, restore stats at your POH, and repeat the process.
Low-Damage “Dancing” Method
If you want to save supplies and are patient, you can use a flinching-style method:
· Only bring melee gear with the Keris Partisan.
· Attack once, then immediately step under her to avoid retaliation.
· Repeat this “dance” until she's dead.
· Works on both phases, but is slower (3–4 minutes per kill).
· Ideal for conserving food and potions when supplies are limited.
Tips & Tricks
· Always kill her on task if possible for faster kills and bonus Slayer XP.
· Prioritize the Keris Partisan of Breaching upgrade if you plan to camp KQ.
· Remember to pre-pot and pray correctly before each phase to minimise damage.
· Use the shift-walk under method for emergency healing opportunities.
Final Thoughts
The Kalphite Queen is a formidable opponent, but becomes manageable with the right preparation and techniques. Whether you prefer fast kills with melee and ranged switching, or the slower but safer “no damage” method, she's a rewarding boss to master. Now that you're prepared, head to the desert and show the Kalphite Queen who's boss!
