OSRS: Massive Quality of Life Changes + Player Support Update

Mar-27-2025 PST

Today, we're diving into the Poll Quality of Life (QoL) updates and some fantastic changes are coming to the game. Jagex has started rolling out these updates this week, with even more improvements expected next week. So, grab a cup of tea, and let's dive into the details!

Slaying Crabs: A New Slayer Task

For all the low-effort combat training enthusiasts out there, this update is a game-changer. Crabs have long been a go-to training method due to their low attack power and high hitpoints, making them perfect for AFK training. Now, they're officially part of Slayer tasks!

If you receive a crab-related assignment, you'll be able to take on any of the following crab species:

Ammonite Crabs

 Frost Crabs

 Rock Crabs

 Sand Crabs

 Swamp Crabs

This update is particularly useful for low-level players who are already training on crabs. Instead of grinding combat without Slayer experience, you can now progress both skills simultaneously. Even pure OSRS accounts can benefit, as Slayer experience is notoriously difficult to gain without traditional combat styles.

Slayer Cape Perk at Konar: Better Task Assignments

The Slayer Cape has received a much-needed upgrade when dealing with Konar. When the cape's perk activates, it will now reassign a task within the same area, rather than giving you a random task elsewhere.

This means no more frustrating rerolls that send you across the map. For example:

If you get Dagannoth Kings in their lair, you'll be reassigned Dagannoth Kings instead of generic Dagannoths elsewhere.

If you get Cerberus, you won't be reassigned Hellhounds in a different dungeon.

This update keeps your Slayer momentum going, allowing for back-to-back tasks without unnecessary travel or gear changes.

Explorer's Ring Alchemy: Streamlined Alching

Who has time for clunky menu navigation while in combat? With this update, the Explorer's Ring allows you to cast High Alchemy simply by using items on it. This means less time spent clicking through menus and more time focusing on slaying monsters or looting drops efficiently.

Previously, players had to:

1. Click the Explorer's Ring

2. Navigate to functions

3. Select Alchemy

4. Then select the item to alch

Now, just using an item on the ring will automatically trigger Alchemy—an excellent improvement for inventory management while training Slayer or PvM.

Farming Contracts: Faster Assignments

We all love Guildmaster Jane, but sometimes you just want to get your farming contracts done quickly. A new dialogue option now lets you instantly grab another contract of the same tier as soon as you finish one, reducing menu navigation and increasing efficiency.

For players who do daily farming contracts, this is a simple but highly effective quality-of-life improvement.

Fairy Rings on the Map: Instant Code Visibility

Ever forgotten a Fairy Ring code mid-route? With this update, the world map now displays codes for any fairy rings you've unlocked. Simply hover over a ring location, and its corresponding code will appear.

This is a great addition for navigating quickly without needing external resources or memory tricks to remember the codes.

Tithe Farm Reward Seed Packs

The Tithe Farm has always been an efficient way to train farming, but many players only visit to grab the Farmers' Outfit and leave. Now, the farm's shop has been revamped with a new shop interface, and a seed pack reward has been introduced.

These seed packs are equivalent to Tier 3 Farming Guild contract rewards and have a chance to include White Lily Seeds, making Tithe Farm a more appealing option for long-term farming gains, especially for Ironman accounts.

Personalized Settings for New Accounts

New players (or those making fresh accounts) will now get tailored default settings based on their experience level. Upon entering Tutorial Island, you'll be asked if you're:

A Beginner – Enjoy a guided interface with enhanced skill descriptions and tutorials.

A Returning Player – Get some guidance while skipping unnecessary tutorials.

An Experienced Player – Get optimized settings like:

    Roof hiding for clearer navigation

    Shift-click to drop items enabled

    Refined attack options

    Auto-retrieve gear from gravestones

This change cuts down time spent tweaking settings and lets you jump straight into playing.

Shades of Mort'ton Chests: Improved Visibility

Looting Shades of Mort'ton chests has been made easier with clear top markings. This is particularly useful for mobile players, who previously found it difficult to spot chests amidst the environment.

Prayer Tooltips: Drain Rate Transparency

Wondering how many prayer points your prayers drain? With this update, prayer tooltips now display their base drain rate. For example:

Hawk Eye (10% Ranged boost) drains 1 point per 6 seconds.

Rigour (20% Ranged boost) drains 1 point per 1.5 seconds.

This feature helps both new and experienced players better manage their prayer economy, particularly in high-intensity PvM encounters.

Skill Guide Summaries: Clearer Leveling Path

Each skill guide now includes a summary tab that provides a breakdown of what the skill does and its benefits. This is especially helpful for new players, but even veterans might appreciate the improved clarity.

Examples:

Mining – Explains ore gathering, tool usage, and rock depletion.

Slayer – Describes monster access, assignments, and level benefits.

Farming – Outlines crop growth, patch locations, and experience gains.

Conclusion

Poll has introduced some fantastic quality of life updates that improve gameplay across various aspects, from Slayer training and Farming Contracts to Alchemy convenience and Fairy Ring navigation. These updates enhance efficiency, making OSRS a more enjoyable experience for all players. If you need Runescape gold can come here!
