OSRS Vampyre Kraken Safespot Guide
Dec-05-2025 PSTThe Vampyre Kraken is one of the highest-level variants of the kraken family found in the Varlamore region. While its combat stats are intimidating, the real draw is its unique drop: Bottled Storm, used to create a Greater Teleport Focus that teleports you directly to your boat. With a drop rate of roughly 1 in 500, it’s a desirable item for players progressing through the region.
Fortunately, there is a very consistent safespot method that lets you kill the Vampyre Kraken with almost no damage taken—perfect for AFK farming or passive hunting while multitasking. This guide explains everything you need to know.
Where This Safespot Is Located
The safespot is positioned directly north of Weiss, at the Marina Kev Monkfish fishing area. This location features a unique layout that allows you to trap the Vampyre Kraken—specifically the one named Joe—on the pit monkfish object, preventing him from reaching your boat.
The safespot works with either a sloop or a skiff, as long as you line up your boat correctly.
Requirements
Recommended Gear
• Tumeken’s Shadow — hands down the best weapon for this method.
• Any 10-tile weapon — you need this attack range to maintain the safespot.
• NOT compatible with Ajak (its range is too short).
Other Requirements
• Ability to operate your boat and reposition it without changing its orientation (only move forward/backward).
• Tile markers (optional but highly recommended).
How the Safespot Works
When Joe the Vampyre Kraken spawns, you can pull him toward your boat and then retreat until he becomes stuck on the monkfish pit. Once stuck, he cannot reach your boat, and you can attack him freely. This method is extremely consistent. Joe may get one hit off at most, but after that, he remains stuck for the duration of the kill.
Step-by-Step Safespot Setup
1. Position Your Boat
Line your boat up so that the bottom-right corner rests on the designated tile. Tile markers for both sloop and skiff variants can be placed here; the setup works perfectly for either vessel.
2. Aggro the Vampyre Kraken
• Sail forward slightly to pull Joe from his spawn.
• Attack him once to get his attention.
3. Pull Him Into the Trap
• After tagging him, move your boat straight backward.
• Do NOT rotate the boat—orientation stays the same.
• Joe will attempt to follow, but the monkfish pit blocks him.
4. Establish the True Tile Line
After backing up, stop when your true tile lines up with the rear marker.
This puts you in perfect range for safe attacking.
5. Attack Freely
Once Joe is stuck:
• Cast Shadow spells (or use your 10-tile weapon).
• He will remain trapped.
• Loot drops normally without breaking the safespot.
6. Handling the Extractor
You’ll still need to harvest your extractor after each kill. Yes—it’s annoying. Yes—we all wish they’d remove that step.
Killing Additional Krakens
Once Joe dies:
1. Back up slightly.
2. Throw your rope to harvest/collect.
3. Return to your safespot tile.
4. Attack the next Vampyre Kraken.
Repeat as needed. The process becomes very AFK once you get the rhythm down.
Is This Worth Doing?
• With a Shadow: Absolutely. The kills are smooth, fast, and nearly zero-risk.
• Without a Shadow: Much less efficient. While still possible with any 10-tile weapon, kill times suffer significantly.
There’s also a chance Jagex may revisit the balance around this method in the future, so consider taking advantage of it while it lasts.
Final Thoughts
This safespot makes farming the Vampyre Kraken incredibly relaxed—almost fully AFK, extremely safe, and consistent. Whether you’re hunting the Bottled Storm or simply knocking out combat achievements, this method is a great addition to your OSRS toolkit.
