Top 10 Bossing OSRS Money Makers

Apr-21-2025 PST

In OSRS, bossing has become one of the most reliable and profitable ways to make a lot of OSRS gold per hour. Gone are the days when your best bet was grinding out Rune items or picking flax—PvM (Player vs. Monster) content is king in today's economy. And with Jagex constantly adding more bosses, reworking older ones, and rebalancing drop tables, there are more viable options than ever for players looking to cash in on combat.

Today, going over the top 10 PvM money makers in the game. Now, keep in mind—this isn't a strict list based solely on GP per hour. Instead, I've ranked these bosses based on a combination of profitability, difficulty, requirements, and—most importantly—how fun they are to fight. Let's get into it.

#10 - Vorkath (The Money Dragon)

Let's start strong with Vorkath, affectionately nicknamed the Money Dragon by the community. He's been one of the most consistently profitable bosses in the game for years now, and with prices for superior dragon bones, dragon bolts, and blue dragonhide being up lately, he's doing better than ever.

• Requirements: Dragon Slayer II (Grandmaster quest)

• Difficulty: Moderate

• Profit: ~2.5-3.5M GP/hr

• Why it's great: Accessible even with budget gear, always available instance, and smooth mechanics once you learn the fight.

If you're newer to bossing or just want reliable cash without sweating mechanics, Vorkath is a fantastic pick.

#9 - Venonatis (and Spindle)

Next up, we're heading out into the Wilderness for Venonatis, the beefed-up spider boss. There's also her weaker version, Spindle, which is great for lower combat levels or if you're looking to dodge PKers more easily.

• Requirements: None specific, but Wilderness knowledge helps

• Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

• Profit: ~4-5M GP/hr

• Why it's great: The Voidwaker gem (worth ~50M) is a rare drop but not too rare, and even without it, the loot piles up nicely.

The biggest downside here is the constant risk of player-killers. But if you're smart, use cheap gear, and know your escape routes, the profits heavily outweigh the risks.

#8 - Phantom Muspah

Phantom Muspah is kind of like Vorkath's spiritual cousin—a solo-only boss with guaranteed access (instanced), reactive mechanics, and very solid drop rates.

• Requirements: Secrets of the North quest

• Difficulty: Moderate

• Profit: ~3M GP/hr, up to ~5M with Ventor's Shard

• Why it's great: You can grind it at your own pace, and the 1 in 100 Ventor's Shard drop (worth ~14.5M) adds some nice jackpot potential.

Muspah's a perfect stepping stone if you're looking to get better at PvM. You'll be practicing prayer switching, movement, and timing all in one.

#7 - Fosani's Nightmare

Fosani's Nightmare is a solo-only version of the Nightmare of Ashihama, and she brings the pain. This is one of the most intense solo PvM fights in the game, and the risk is real. But so are the rewards.

• Requirements: High combat stats, Prayer, and gear

• Difficulty: High

• Profit: ~4-6M GP/hr (with potential for 100 M+ drops)

• Why it's great: The Inquisitor's gear, Nightmare Staff upgrades, and fun, reactive mechanics make it a boss you'll come back to.

If you're up for the challenge, Fosani's is incredibly engaging. Every mistake can cost you, but that's also what makes it exciting.

#6 - Tombs of Amascut (ToA)

Here we have the newest raid in OSRS—Tombs of Amascut. What makes ToA special is how scalable it is. You can adjust invocation levels to change the challenge and rewards, and even go solo if you want.

• Requirements: Desert Treasure II and gear scaling based on invocations

• Difficulty: Scales from Moderate to High

• Profit: ~4-7M/hr, with rare chance at Tumeken's Shadow (~1.1B GP)

• Why it's great: You can tailor the experience to your skill level, and still have a shot at pulling some of the most expensive gear in the game.

ToA is not only profitable, but also a great way to learn raiding if you're new to endgame PvM.

#5 - Chambers of Xeric (CoX)

The original raid—Chambers of Xeric—is still going strong. Between the variety of drops and the potential for Twisted Bow (~1.6B GP), it's an all-time favorite.

• Requirements: High combat, multiple skill levels, and gear

• Difficulty: Medium to High

• Profit: ~4-6M/hr (plus mega-rare drop chance)

• Why it's great: Tons of different valuable items (like Ancestral, Kodai, and Dragon Hunter Crossbow) keep the drop table spicy.

Whether you're duoing with friends or sending larger team runs, CoX offers great value and replayability.

#4 - Nex

Nex, also known as the money chicken, has some of the most overpriced drops in the game—in a good way. Whether it's Zaryte Vambraces or the Zaryte Crossbow, the loot potential here is wild.

• Requirements: Frozen Door miniquest and decent gear

• Difficulty: Moderate (DPS check-style fight)

• Profit: ~5-8M/hr with potential 200-300M drops

• Why it's great: Best in small teams (2-6 people) and extremely high-value drops.

Nex isn't the hardest boss out there, but having solid DPS is key. And if you get lucky on your drop, you could walk away with enough GP to last you months.

#3 - Vardorvis

One of the Desert Treasure 2 bosses, Vardorvis is a mechanically engaging solo fight with some very juicy rewards.

• Requirements: Desert Treasure 2 (Grandmaster Quest)

• Difficulty: High

• Profit: ~6-8M/hr (higher if you get Soulreaper Axe piece)

• Why it's great: Mechanically intense, rewarding, and a true test of footwork and prayer switching.

Even without counting the Soulreaper Axe pieces (which require collecting multiple parts), Vardorvis can compete with the best bosses in the game for GP/hour. And it's fun, too, which goes a long way.

#2 - Theatre of Blood (ToB)

Coming in at number two is Theatre of Blood, the second raid added to OSRS and home to some of the most epic drops and fights in the game.

• Requirements: High-level gear, team coordination

• Difficulty: High

• Profit: ~6-10M/hr, with Scythe of Vitur (~1.8B GP) as the mega rare

• Why it's great: It's challenging, team-based, and one of the most satisfying pieces of content in OSRS.

ToB isn't solo-friendly (though you can technically solo it), but if you've got a squad, this is hands-down some of the most fun team content in the game. Every wipe teaches you something, and every win brings you closer to that purple chest.

#1 - The Rest of the Desert Treasure 2 Bosses (Zebak, Duke Sucellus, and The Leviathan)

While I gave Vardorvis its spot earlier, all of the Desert Treasure 2 bosses are top-tier for money making. Zebak, Sucellus, and the Leviathan are all very profitable, especially when you factor in their respective unique.

• Requirements: Desert Treasure 2

• Difficulty: Moderate to High

• Profit: 5-8M/hr across the board

• Why it's great: You can pick your favorite based on mechanics, or cycle through all of them for variety.

The ring upgrades, Virtus pieces, and other drops make these bosses some of the best bang-for-your-buck PvM options in the game right now. Learn one, learn them all, and enjoy some of the best designed solo content OSRS has ever had.

Final Thoughts

Bossing in OSRS is more rewarding than it's ever been. Whether you prefer the risk of the Wilderness, the solo focus of Phantom Muspah, or the group dynamics of raids, there's a money-making PvM activity for every type of player.

Just remember, profit isn't everything—fun matters too. The bosses you enjoy the most will always feel more rewarding, even if they're not technically the best GP/hr.

So pick your fight, bring your gear, and start stacking up that gold.
